Band Families,

We have advanced to the Area Marching Contest which is the next step in the matriculation process for the State Marching Contest. Area Marching Contest Info

The Area Contest will feature all the bands who earned 1st Division Ratings at Region Marching Contest. We are in Area F which is created by combining 3 Regions (Region 9, Region 10, and Region 33). Unlike the Region Marching Contest, Area Marching Contest is now direct competition with other bands that results in an ordinal placement (1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, etc.) Another way that the Area Marching Contest differs is that it is a Prelims/Finals contest. All bands who qualified will compete in a preliminary round with the top 10 bands advancing to Finals.

The results of the Finals competition will determine the bands that advance to the State Marching Contest in San Antonio. The number of bands who will advance to the SMC is calculated by the number of bands who qualified for Area. The formula is for advancement is one band for every 5 bands that qualified. This year our Area will have 5 bands that will advance to the SMC.

Tickets for Area Marching contest are $5 each and can be purchased online here: https://galenaparkisd.revtrak.net/fine-arts/#/v/fine-arts-uil-6a-area-f-marching-contest

Tickets can also be purchased at the stadium on the day of the event with cash or card. Please be sure you arrive early enough to get into the ticket line and still make it to your seat in time for our performance.

General information about the contest along with links to schedules is attached in PDF format. We will be feeding the students at the contest. Please be sure your student eats before rehearsal and brings a meal/snack to eat during Eat, Pack, Load.

Area Contest Volunteers

If you would like to volunteer to help with chaperones, pit crew, or photography you can do that on the Charms website here: https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/volunteerR.asp?s=klecolhsb&v=5340134

Uniform Wash #3

It’s time for us to wash the uniforms again. We will be washing after Area Marching Contest and they need to be returned by Thursday November 4th. This is a great way for those families who cannot volunteer for in-person tasks (chaperones, pit crew, etc.) to support the band program. You will sign up in Charms for a group of 10-11 uniforms to wash. Instructions and details can be found here https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/volunteerR.asp?s=klecolhsb&v=5444298

Ready Set Fund

On Friday we kicked off our second Spring Trip Fundraiser, Ready Set Fund. This is the 3rd year we have done this fundraiser and it’s a simple way for the students to offset the cost of their spring trip. For each supporter a student has they will earn $30 towards their spring trip. You can share the Supporter website by using this link: https://readysetfund.com/KleinCollinsBand. The fundraiser will end on Friday November 5th.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out via email so I can help.
