Mr. Kuempel is entering his first year in public education and is excited to join Klein ISD as the Assistant Band Director at Klein Collins High School. Originally from Seguin, Texas, Mr. Kuempel graduated with his Bachelor of Music Education from Louisiana State University and completed his student teaching at the LSU Laboratory School and Walker High School in Livingston Parish.

At Louisiana State University, Mr. Kuempel studied under Charles Goodman, Simon Holoweiko, Jason Bowers, and David Saccardi. During his time at LSU, he performed with a variety of ensembles on campus, including the LSU Wind Ensemble under the direction of Damon Talley, the Symphonic Winds, as both a euphonium and tuba player, under the direction of Simon Holoweiko, and the LSU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble under the direction of Charles Goodman. Mr. Kuempel graduated with College Honors and was named the 2026 Presser Undergraduate Scholar by the School of Music.

Mr. Kuempel began his marching career with The Academy in 2021 as a euphonium soloist. He then marched four seasons with the Boston Crusaders, from 2022-2025, serving as baritone section leader in his final season as a member. Mr. Kuempel is still involved with DCI, working with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps as a member of the visual staff.

His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.

In his free time, Mr. Kuempel enjoys sightseeing, watching movies, socializing with friends, and watching LSU sports. Geaux Tigers!
