Jessica Calvit

Jessica Calvit is the Associate Director of Bands at Klein Collins High School and began her teaching career in the Spring of 2020. Prior to her appointment at Klein Collins, Ms. Calvit served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Grand Oaks High School in Spring, TX. While at Grand Oaks, she was the director of the Wind Symphony and directed the visual program and rehearsals for the marching band. Under her tenure, the Wind Symphony received superior ratings at the UIL concert and sight reading contest and the marching band competed consistently as finalists in competitions including UIL, BOA, and US Bands. Prior to Grand Oaks, Ms. Calvit served as an Assistant Band Director at Lubbock-Cooper High School where their band qualified for the State Marching Competition and received superior ratings at the UIL concert and sight reading contest. While in Lubbock, she also performed with the Lubbock Civic Orchestra.

 

Ms. Calvit is a graduate of Texas Tech University (Wreck ‘Em Tech!) where she attained her music education degree. While at Texas Tech, she served as Drum Major for the Goin’ Band from Raiderland and was the principal chair for the Symphonic Band on trumpet. She competed as a solo semifinalist and a chamber quarterfinalist in the National Trumpet Competition as well as performed at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, and the College Band Directors National Association Conference. 

 

Outside of band, Ms. Calvit enjoys traveling, ballroom dancing, trying out new restaurants, playing video games, and hanging out with her cat, Angel, and dog, Honey.

 

Professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.
